You're Going On Vacation (Lucky You!) Figuring Out What To Pack For Vacation Can Get Stressful, So We've Made It Easier For You. Here's A List Of 10 Things!

It’s time to pack for your trip, except you have no idea exactly what to pack for vacation! It could get extremely stressful… Trust me – been there, done that! Considering I’ve traveled to see my partner all the way in England many times, I feel like I’ve almost mastered the art of packing… (Notice how I said almost – it’s still difficult at times!)

There’s always the question of what to pack for vacation and what not to pack. I used to pack a separate suitcase for my shoes alone – and that was just for a 1 week trip! So, to make things easier for you, I’ve compiled a list of travel essentials.

List of What to Pack For Vacation

1. Toiletries

Does this really need an explanation? No matter where you are, it’s important to stay hygienic! You can get travel-sized toiletries, so you don’t have to pack huge bottles! So, make sure not to forget your toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.

2. Chargers

This is super important! Obviously, you’re going to be bringing your phone and possibly your computer on your trip. It’s important they stay charged – so don’t forget your charger! I’d also suggest bringing a portable charger as they’re super compact, and if you’re going to be taking loads of pictures throughout the day, the charger will definitely come in handy.

3. Clothing / Shoes

Just like toiletries, this doesn’t need much of an explanation! I usually pack a few of each clothing item, just to ensure that I have a few different choices. On top of bringing a few shirts, pants, etc – pack different types of shoes. For example, if you’re going somewhere hot, don’t just pack sandals. It might rain during your trip, or you might start getting blisters from that annoying thing in the middle of sandals! So, bring a pair of sneakers – they may come in handy!

4. Aspirins

If you’re going to be traveling on a plane for a long time, then you might start to feel ill. Whether it’s during, or after your flight, aspirins will become your best friend. While being on your flight, you’re stuck in a confined space for a few hours… If someone is sick, you’re prone to catching it. So, be prepared – pack some aspirins just in case… Thank me later!

5. Travel pillow

Whether your journey is 1 hour long or 10 hours long, you’ll want to ensure that you’re comfy for the full duration of your flight. So, bring along a travel pillow! You can even get a blow up one that you can deflate and leave in your purse!

6. Passport / ID:

Unless you’re traveling inside your country, you’re going to need to have a valid passport. If you’re staying in your country, you’re still going to need some ID. A license will be fine! Make sure your passport isn’t going to expire during your trip – you won’t be able to use that for your identification!

7. Camera

A picture is worth a thousand words! As someone who takes photos and videos daily, you’re going to want to bring a camera! Don’t worry if you don’t have some crazy expensive DSLR camera, nowadays, phone cameras are just as great! You’ll want to take photos of things that you want to remember forever – one day, you can even show your kids!

8. A book or journal

Let’s be real, at one point or another, you’re going to get bored during your travel journey… So, make sure to bring a book to read! If you’re not big on reading, then bring a journal. Write about whatever comes to mind… It’ll be amazing to look at it years from now. Also, by writing, you’ll pass time on your flight, train, or car ride!

9. Money

I’m pretty certain that you already know to bring this, but don’t forget money! Bring both cash, and a credit / debit card. If you’re traveling internationally, you can get your cash exchanged into their currency. Sometimes, banks take foreign exchange fees when using credit cards, so I’d suggest bringing as much cash as you can to exchange!

10. Backpack or Purse

When traveling around your destination, you’re not going to want to carry your suitcase around with you! It’s obviously not ideal to hold all your belongings either… So, bring some sort of bag with you to pack some stuff in! It could be a backpack, fanny-pack, or just a purse! Plus, if you buy any souvenirs, you won’t have to hold them – you can put them straight into your bag, and they’re much more secure that way!
